Tools

Here are the basic tools we use

rigid shop vac

Vacuum

A powerful, commercial-grade vacuum is the foundation of any professional interior detail. Unlike standard household shop-vacs, our HEPA Vacuum with high-CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) units delivers exceptional lift and airflow, extracting deeply embedded sand, pet hair, and abrasive grit from beneath your carpet fibers. We pair this with specialized, non-marring crevice attachments to safely navigate around delicate trim, seat tracks, and leather without leaving scratches, which helps prevent the premature wear and fraying of your interior materials

Rigid air compresser

Air Compressor

We utilize high-velocity pneumatic air compressors and specialized blowout nozzles to access intricate crevices that physical tools simply cannot reach. Inside the cabin, highly pressurized air safely purges trapped dust, crumbs, and debris from tight seat rails, center console gaps, and delicate dashboard switches. On the exterior, forced air is essential for thoroughly blowing out trapped water from side mirrors, grilles, and door jambs—preventing annoying water drips and hard-water spotting after a wash

seat water extracter

Extractor

When it comes to heavily soiled fabric or carpets, a standard vacuum isn't enough. Our commercial extractors inject a heated cleaning solution deep into the fabric fibers, immediately extracting the liquid along with years of embedded dirt, spills, and stubborn Monroe County winter road salt

Steamer

Steamer

We utilize commercial-grade steamers, such as the Chief Steamer, that produce superheated, compressed vapor. This allows us to safely melt away sticky residues, sanitize tight air vents, and kill 99% of interior bacteria without relying on harsh, toxic chemicals that could dry out delicate plastics or leather. The heat also safely accelerates the effectiveness of our pH-neutral cleaning agents, providing a deeper clean.

Pressure washer

Pressure washer

Ensuring paint safety is our top priority We utilize automotive-safe pressure washers calibrated between 1000-1600 PSI, combined with professional foam cannons, to apply a thick layer of pH-neutral snow foam. This essential "touchless" pre-wash phase effectively encapsulates and lifts stubborn dirt, mud, and abrasive grit from your clear coat before any wash mitt makes contact with the vehicle. By eliminating this heavy contamination first, we significantly reduce the friction that leads to swirl marks and micro-scratches.

high quailty brushes

Brushes

Not all vehicle surfaces are created equal, which is why we utilize a carefully curated arsenal of premium, scratch-free detailing brushes. We use ultra-soft boar's hair and specialized synthetic brushes to gently agitate cleaners inside delicate air vents, navigation screens, and easily scratched piano-black trim. On the exterior, we use dedicated, chemical-resistant barrel brushes exclusively for tires and intricate alloy wheels—ensuring cross-contamination never occurs between heavy brake dust and your sensitive paintwork

1. Preparation & Pneumatic Air Purging: Before a vacuum ever enters the vehicle, we safely remove all floor mats and utilize a high-velocity pneumatic air compressor paired with specialized blowout nozzles. We force pressurized air deep into tight seat rails, center console crevices, and between overlapping plastic trim. Why? This safely unearths deeply trapped crumbs, pet dander, and dust that traditional vacuum nozzles simply cannot reach.

2. High-CFM Dry Extraction (Deep Vacuuming): Once the hidden debris is purged to the surface, we perform a meticulous, multi-pass vacuum extraction using a commercial-grade, high-suction (high-CFM) vacuum. We utilize non-marring crevice attachments to safely navigate around delicate leather and plastics. This crucial step removes microscopic abrasive sand and grit that cause premature wear and fraying of your carpet fibers and seat stitching.

3. Hard Surface Sanitization & Steam Cleaning: We target the dashboard, door panels, cup holders, and steering wheel using a combination of pH-neutral interior cleaners, superheated vapor steam (212°F+), and ultra-soft boar’s hair detailing brushes. Why? The superheated steam naturally melts away sticky residues, body oils, and makeup while killing 99.9% of hidden bacteria. The ultra-soft brushes safely agitate dirt out of textured plastics and delicate air vents without scratching sensitive piano-black trim.

4. Deep Fabric & Carpet Extraction: For heavily soiled fabrics, floor mats, and carpets, we treat spots with a scientifically formulated bio-enzymatic cleaner to break down protein-based stains and organic matter. We use high-quality products from P&S, Koch Chemie, and other professional brands. We then use our commercial hot water extractor to inject heated water deep into the fabric and immediately vacuum it back out at high pressure. This physically pulls out years of embedded dirt, spilled coffee, and corrosive Upstate New York winter road salt, leaving the fabric revitalized and damp-dry.

5. Leather Decontamination & Conditioning (If Applicable): Contrary to popular belief, healthy leather should have a soft, matte finish—not a slick, shiny one. A shiny steering wheel or seat is actually coated in trapped body oils and dirt. We use dedicated, pH-balanced leather cleansers and gentle scrubbing pads to safely lift these oils from the leather's pores. Once perfectly clean and bare, we massage a premium, non-greasy leather conditioner into the hide to restore moisture, suppleness, and protect against future UV fading and cracking.

6. UV Protection & Surface Sealing: To protect your freshly cleaned hard surfaces, we apply a premium, water-based UV protectant to the dashboard, door panels, and center console. Unlike cheap, over-the-counter silicone dressings that leave a sticky, greasy residue that attracts dust, our professional protectant leaves a dry-to-the-touch, anti-static, factory-matte finish while providing a microscopic barrier against the sun's harmful rays.

7. Streak-Free Glass & Final Quality Assurance: The final step is achieving perfect optical clarity. Interior glass often develops a hazy film due to the natural "off-gassing" of dashboard plastics. We clean all interior glass, rear-view mirrors, and navigation screens with a specialized ammonia-free glass cleaner and lint-free, waffle-weave microfiber towels. Why ammonia-free? Because ammonia degrades and chemically burns aftermarket window tints over time. Finally, the vehicle undergoes a rigorous final inspection under multi-angle lighting to ensure every inch meets Detail Lab’s exact standards.

Step 1: Initial Assessment: We walk the vehicle with the owner, noting existing damage, paint condition, and problem areas. This sets expectations and ensures nothing is overlooked.

Step 2: Pre-Rinse: A thorough rinse removes loose dirt and debris, reducing the risk of scratching during the wash stage. We use a pressure washer at a safe distance to lift contaminants without damaging the clear coat.

Step 3: Wheel & Tire Cleaning: Wheels are cleaned first — they're the dirtiest part of the vehicle. We use a pH-balanced wheel cleaner and dedicated brushes for barrels, faces, and lug nut wells. Tires are scrubbed to remove old dressing and browning.

Step 4: Foam Cannon Pre-Wash: A thick layer of snow foam coats the paint, encapsulating and lifting remaining dirt. This is a critical step in reducing contamination before any contact wash.

Step 5: Two-Bucket Contact Wash: We use the two-bucket method — one wash, one rinse — with a high-quality microfiber mitt. Each panel is washed individually, top to bottom, and rinsed frequently to prevent cross-contamination.

Step 6: Decontamination: Iron fallout remover is applied to dissolve embedded metallic particles. If needed, a clay bar or clay mitt is used to pull out bonded contaminants that the wash alone can't remove. This leaves the paint glass-smooth.

Step 7: Rinse & Dry: A final rinse, followed by hand-drying with plush, clean microfiber towels or a filtered-air blower. We never let the vehicle air dry — water spots are preventable.

Step 8: Paint Enhancement or Correction (if applicable): For clients who've selected a paint correction package, we use a dual-action polisher with appropriate pads and compounds to remove swirl marks, light scratches, and oxidation — restoring clarity and gloss.

Step 9: Protection Application: A sealant, ceramic coating, or carnauba wax is applied depending on the service tier. Each product is leveled and buffed to an even finish, providing UV protection, hydrophobic properties, and lasting shine.

Step 10: Final Touches: Trim is dressed, glass is cleaned inside and out, door jambs are wiped, and exhaust tips are polished. We do a final walkaround under direct light to confirm every surface meets our standard before handoff.

1. Deep Clean & Hand Wash: We begin with a two-bucket hand wash using pH-neutral foam to safely strip away loose dirt, alongside a deep clean of the wheel barrels and wheel wells.

2. Chemical Decontamination: We apply a specialized iron fallout remover that safely dissolves microscopic, embedded brake dust and rail dust that standard washing leaves behind.

3. Mechanical Decontamination (Clay Bar): Using an automotive clay bar, we gently pull remaining bonded impurities from the clear coat, leaving your paint feeling as smooth as glass.

Step 4: Paint Correction (Machine Polishing): Because a ceramic coating locks in the exact condition of your paint, the surface must be as flawless as possible before application. Using professional dual-action polishers and specialized polishing compounds, we safely level the clear coat to remove light scratches, wash-induced swirl marks, and oxidation. This crucial step restores true depth, optical clarity, and maximum gloss to your vehicle's finish.

5. Panel Prep Wipe-Down: We clean all exterior glass and wipe down all paint panels with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) prep spray. This removes old waxes and polishing oils, guaranteeing the ceramic coating bonds directly to the bare clear coat.

6. Precision Coating Application:
Working in small, meticulously controlled sections, we apply the professional-grade liquid ceramic coating using a specialized microfiber suede applicator. Using a precise cross-hatch motion, we ensure perfectly even, overlapping coverage. Why? This allows the active silica (SiO2) nano-particles to deeply penetrate, cross-link, and chemically bond with the microscopic pores of your bare clear coat.

7. Leveling, Curing & Final Inspection: We closely monitor the coating for its precise "flash time" (when the carrying solvents begin to evaporate) and carefully level the surface using premium, scratch-free edgeless microfiber towels. This critical step prevents cloudy "high spots" and guarantees a flawless, mirror-like finish. Finally, the vehicle undergoes a rigorous, multi-angle lighting inspection and is left to properly cure, locking in years of extreme gloss, UV protection, and intense hydrophobic (water-beading) properties.
